@carol_mcclain I heard a strange application about the rich young ruler last Sunday. The gist of the message: find God–give up. Yep. You read that right. Give up. To refresh your memory, Jesus encountered a rich, young ruler who asked what he needed to do to be saved. Jesus said, “… go and sell all you …[ read more ]

@carol_mcclain You can renew your life: leave the mistakes behind and live in joy. I have a friend who is a genuinely good person. Unfortunately, long ago, she gave up on God. She’s now an atheist. Why? When she was younger, a minister hammered into her, non-stop, that she was a sinner. We know plenty of …[ read more ]

@carol_mcclain The short answer. You can never be good enough for God. I just finished reading Deuteronomy and Leviticus,  and all you need to do to be righteous before God. Even though I spent a month in the tome, I can’t recall half of what is required to be ethical. Make that an eighth or sixteenth. …[ read more ]

    • To Inherit the World, Are You Prepared to Meet the Cost? Consider the Christmas Story

Carol McClain Matt. 5:5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." The meek. We think of them as spineless milquetoasts. Unassertive and too timid to achieve anything. Although not mentioned as meek, consider Mary, especially in this Christmas season. As a teenage girl betrothed--essentially married in all but consummation--an angel appears to her. We, of course, know what the angel proclaimed. The only hesitation Mary has is that she is a virgin, so how can she be pregnant? Once she accepts her destiny, the consequences begin.
