Adam And Eve: Epitome of Ungratefuness

In Everything give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thes. 5:18

Prior to Thanksgiving, our pastor preached about Adam and Eve. He posited that ingratitude caused their downfall. This slant on the well-worn episode made me think.

God gave this duo everything but…

They had all sorts of food, companionship, communion with the Creator. Lions curled at their feet. Eve could give birth painlessly. The weather was perfect–no blizzards to dig out of, no droughts to burn their home down.

But, it wasn’t enough.

And you know the rest.

For me, I have a beautiful home. Still I look at friends’ homes with better views or places on the lake or…

If I had something better, would I be satisfied?

No.

In EVERYthing give thanks. Today I’m grateful for:

  1. An exquisite home with a pretty view and lots of privacy. It’s affordable and secluded and more than everything I need.
  2. Two cats. Although they are independent, they need to be with me wherever I am in my beautiful home.
  3. My friend Stacy who loves watching the above mentioned kitties whenever I’m out of town.
  4. A good electrician who actually answers my calls and shows up when he says he will.
  5. Good doctors who, although at times torment us with their procedures, makes us feel better in the end.

Tell me things that make you grateful?

If not me, write them in a journal. It’s proven. Gratitude journals make you feel better.

Enjoy your Christmas season. Jesus is the best reason for gratitude.

I’m grateful for all of the wonderful people that I have met and that are in my life since I started my walk with the Lord.

I was just thinking that. In my youth, we had a fervency that’s lacking now–but that core group of people is special. Then comes the others I met along the way. My friends who walk with God are phenomenal.
